Thank you so much for waiting and checking back patiently. I am taking a sabbatical from regular work to draw comics. Only in time will we find out how much of an improvement this is.. However this plan does include finishing HERO by hook or crook (on average a page a day, although assembling them and writing the script is still causing epic time paradoxes)

Also rolling with the times I have been posting (mostly Three Kingdoms/Sengoku/cat) art on tumblr, if historical/cat art feels relevant to your interests then this link may be of use.. But seriously thank you for continuing to read and find out what happens next, and I can only hope the actual results live up to your expectations. Thank you so much.

Welcome back. I have no excuse for letting almost a year elapse since the last update, except that I simply could not believe in the story I had planned for the next couple of chapters and also found much happiness in drawing other things. Up to five minutes ago I was indeed still rewriting dialogue, some things never change..

happy halloween! no, it is not a trick.

i apologize for not posting any updates for three months. otoh if you ever need to know how to do anything in excel or powerpoint you only need ask (except change the colour of macro buttons, which i figured out in theory but failed in execution)

no one is inviting me to their wedding[1] / birthday / open house[2] / etc over this weekend so with luck chapter 9 will be able to end next week. i will be away the following two weeks :( more happily though one week will be spent drawing comics with the wonderful Emma Rios at the Lingua Comica 3 workshop in Kyoto. there will be almost twenty people who love and draw comics at LC3 and i am very much looking forward to meeting and talking and drawing with them! Emma and I are doing a story about a dream of a road trip.. I am not sure if we can repost elsewhere what is being made for the event but I will definitely link to it if it is anywhere online.

[1] i am beginning to attend more weddings per year than birthday parties, the feeling is still strange.
[2] an open house is where during the holidays you make lots of food and open the gates and ask all your friends to drop by and eat, and possibly not mind if strangers walk in and eat too.

everything always gets stuck in this cycle:
- plan grandly
- fail to draw it
- plan only what is within my capability to draw
- become annoyed and feel that the story has been crippled
- withdraw from world and become grumpy bitter hermit

but the other day a friend forwarded me a link to the Center for Cartoon Studies and well I feel all is right with the world if there exists, somewhere, an institution dedicated to the art of telling stories with pictures.

it has always been my intention to try to understand Valentine's motives by/at this point. I am not sure this is coming through and perhaps I need to sit down and follow the original scripts instead of improvising too much on the spur of the moment because of a sudden beautiful piece of philosophy/music.

i (still) resolve to work harder. sorry for the long unplanned and unnoted hiatus. the time and energy i have to spend on drawing and stories and even just hopping onto the internet for not work purposes keeps getting hijacked. however i have been briefly acquainted with sea creatures recently and i think this is really good for drawing and stories. though clearly not so good for doing admin work and tidying up and possibly redesigning website nor replying to emails :/ the current to do list for this website currently stands at 1) character list, 2) technical faq and 3) archive of all the wips and sketches that have been showing up on the TBC page.

i hope you've been well and this spring has been kind to you.
